Myself L.M. Edmead independent authour & researcher from Britain, UK. I like to announce that I've discovered the true identity of a wall painting of a ‘Holy Trinity Crucifixion’ at Forde abbey, near Chard Somerset. Forde abbey states it is dated at c1320 A.D. and that the figures in the composition, are the Virgin Mary and John the Evangelist with Jesus on the cross. At the time it was painted, the abbey was still run by the Cistercian order.
I have done extensive research and study of this Wall painting and have come to the conclusion based on the evidence. This female figure in the painting is not the Virgin Mary, it is none other than Mary Magdalene. In the painting the female is wearing a reddish/brown robe, Mary Magdalene is associated with these colours of reddish/brown/scarlet for her robe’s, which is symbolic to her. Mary Magdalene’s hair is associated to red, golden or fair hair, which is also symbolic of her. Mary Magdalene’s hair is unveiled and loose down to her shoulders.
As for The Virgin Mary, her robe is symbolically blue or white and her hair black or brown.
Also in the Catholic Tradition Virgin Mary is usually on the right side of Jesus, here she is on the left. Virgin Mary is also usually veiled but in this painting the woman is unveiled and her hair is loose over her shoulders.
There for the Virgin Mary does not fit this description in this painting at all! 1) Her hair is the wrong colour 2) Her Robe is the wrong colour 3) Virgin Mary’s hair is also veiled, not loose over her shoulders 4) Virgin Mary is also positioned on the wrong side of Jesus. It was also looks like she’s holding a ‘Alabaster Jar.’
This new discovery of Mary Magdalene of Forde, brings a new light to her, to Christian art, sacred feminism and of a great cultural importance to Somerset and Britain, for this now makes her the oldest painting with her in it, in the U.K & Ireland, and third in the world.
Mary Magdalene has been a victim of mistaken identity at Forde Abbey for 28 years, since the painting was rediscovered 1992, she has been Hidden for 400-500 years! She has been their at least 700 years, whilst also the Vatican officially character assassinated her for 1,398 years, until their official apology in 1968. Mary Magdalene needs to be in her rightful place & to her original status and be honoured and venerated once again, like she was originally by these Cistercian monks for around 200/300 years, before white-washed and covered over, probably due to Puritan’s reformation or covered due to the Dissolution of the monasteries. I hope the Art world, Christians, the rising sacred feminine, the County of Somerset and Britain celebrate this and I really hope Forde Abbey embrace this New discovery of Mary Magdalene, for she needs to be acknowledged, reclaimed back and I hope Forde Abbey take the opportunity for the potential of the added attraction to their already beautiful and stunning house and gardens, because this rare and unique painting as it stands at the moment is not in their guide book or the extensive book ‘Forde abbey; The story behind the stones’. Let’s put Mary Magdalene in her rightful place at Forde Abbey. I rest my case, on this evidence alone, in relation to Mary Magdalene. But Mary Magdalene has lead the way and lit up the path to other important revelations in this research, one being that is John the Baptist not John the Evangelist as claimed at the abbey. This would make it the oldest ‘Holy Trinity Crucifixion’ of these three unique figures in the world. But there are also other revelations and supporting evidence that was discovered whilst studying and researching this unique and rare ‘Holy Trinity Crucifixion’ at Forde Abbey, which will all be available for publication for the public soon.

“The case I have presented just within the press-release shows a correlation with the photographs I had taken of the Holy trinity crucifixion wall painting c1320 A.D. at Forde abbey & comparing with a contemporary image from Saint Mary Magdalene Church, Taunton & statements with written evidence supporting these. This is more conclusive evidence alone, then the 'Da Vinci Code's' case for Leonardo's Da Vinci's 'Last Supper' painting, causing debate whether it being Mary Magdalene or not, which captured the world.”
